with no effort
just uncurling the protection
for the gentle slow exposure to
the mystery of the new
season.
With the ease of mother nature
life springs to regenerate new growth
so white and smooth:
profound beauty in the stillness.
We do not see
the bark of this small tree
in motion coming to be
the full fairy-bell pink-light display
in mid-October Spring.
Silence
Stillness
The presentation of what lies beneath
the slender trunk
the well of light
the joy and delight of new blessings:
the alluring wonder of its nature.
Shall I sit with you
to view the uncurling of the bark?
Will I know how this happens?
How long does it take?
Was this the natural uncurling
in the cooling air of Autumn
and then in the continual coldness of Winter?
Next year, though the weather will change,
I will be more present to see
the nature of this Koltwizia 'Fairy-bells' tree.
