Betty and Two Happy Tails

Paul calls me Betty,

you call me Bee,

I call the cows to visit me

beside the fence on this summer day

but they stay

under the Red Gum Tree,

and one 'girl' only turns around

and watches me:

for a long, long time - - -

I call

her

Betty.

Bobby and I were walking

along a dirt track,

in brown snake land near Bell Springs.

I wore my Akubra

and Old Bob came with his favourite

part to start - - - -

His Happy Tail.

So later in the day,

when his tail tells a weary story

I give him a lift on my hip.

Back home again.

And, just now - - - -

Oh joy! A happy surprise!

On the brick window-sill,

under my little lemon tree,

a tiny Spinifex-hopping-mouse

climbed up to the glass to visit me - - - - -

I am so delighted

as they are tiny, native creatures

and I have only ever seen this sweet one

from time to time, feeding on grass seeds.

And so, from the wonderfully still cows

resting in the long dry grass,

to a super-fast, hopping mouse,

face to face through the window glass.

I am indeed, feeling most happy.

You Are Shining Now

Good morning Silky-Oak.
You have grown so tall after-all,
 so now
you reach the sky and see
there will be a rain-forest place
for a retiring 'Christmas Tree'.

She Knows The Story

I sit with you, you sit with me:

This is the story

known to my lifetime friend

the one, from beginning to end,

Miss Maiden-hair Fern.

Now, all I know is:

I receive gifts,

answers,

sometimes even without my questions.

But three weeks ago I asked -

What does the Maidenhair Fern tell me?

And then yesterday,

another small bird flew into the window.

And the day afterwards, today

I heard The Ones say,

in a calm announcement

as I lay asleep -

"You are more able to know these things

than you will ever know"

So, as I go into this New Year

with 'the doors of perception'

always open to Divine guidance,

I may retrieve through the black veins,

the wiry stems, that support

the lush unfolding round, green leaves,

the beauty to believe

we all do know the story within.

This is part 1, and it has begun.

Here now in the present, January 4, 2021

Come with me.

You, may also listen within,

to a plant that has often been,

re-occurring

through endless years of memories.

The affinity stays with you.

It may be a native plant in your wilderness

or be home garden grown or potted,

or growing abundantly, last century,

in granny's glass-roof-atrium.

Ask for it to come with you

in these unfolding healing times.
